The first conference dedicated to „digital generation“, „Teen Talk 2013: What Digital Native Generation Wants“, organised by Bravo magazine, has been held today at Belgrade Youth Centre. The conference gathered experts from the area of communications, media, film, psychology, music, sports and many other areas related to the behaviour, consumer, social and cultural habits and needs of teenagers.
Among the lecturers and panelists, there were many public persons who deal with this subject in their line of work.
The first panel, „From strip to ‘Clip’“ was about what high school students hide under their desks today. Panel discussion was conducted by Galeb Nikacevic, with the participation of a high student Aleksa Balasevic (son of Djordje Balasevic) who admitted that he goes to rafts, but that he sometimes also listens to the opera!
Other participants in the panel were Gordana Fiket Djurkovic, PR of „Čarobna knjiga“, Mirjana Vlaovic, writer, Tamara Simic Jacimovski, professor in Seventh Belgrade Grammar School, Vidoje Radulovic, deputy manager of „Children’s Village“ at Sremska Kamenica and Uros Zoric, e-business administrator at Telenor.
Tamara Simic Jacimovski, chemistry teacher: „I sometimes find two mobile phones under their desks! Children are able to use two mobile phones at the same time. When they do not understand study subjects, they use the internet in order to broaden their knowledge. I try to keep them interested, as much as I can, so that they are active in the class. I hope that we will soon have WiFi installed in our classrooms. As a chemistry professor, I find it amusing that students became interested in chemistry by watching ‘Breaking Bad’ TV series.“.
Panel dubbed „Kids/Hooligans“, dedicated to violence at sports events, attracted a lot of attention. „We all know about England and its problem with hooligans, who deals with it and how it is being solved. In Serbia, the whole story is a government project. We are the only country that supports and uses groups supporter and hooligan groups!,“ Stevan Filipovic, director of „Šisanje“, said.
Milan Djukic, president of „Vojvodina“ handball club, says: „Persons under 14 years of age are deliberately being ‘infiltrated’ into supporter groups, because the law does not hold them responsible for felonies, so they cannot be legally pursued!“.
„Hooligans are in fact cowards who can only attack someone when they are in a group! Be heroes in these non-heroic times and isolate hooligans from your environment!,“ Nenad Borovcanin from the Ministry of Youth and Sport, told teenagers.
Slobodan Georgijev, journalist from Vreme, weekly magazine, says: „I am a great supporter, but I no longer go to the matches of my favourite club. I decided not to go to the matches any more when I realised that the stands are not a place for support, but a place for recruitment!“
The fourth panel was dubbed „WOW – LOL!: How do teenagers communicate with each other and with the ‘outside world’“. Violeta Babic, childrens’ book author and a reader at „Creative Centre“, Denis Jovanovic, model, Tatjana Peternek-Aleksic, reporter (RTS), dr Zoran Milivojevic, psychotherapist, Vojislav Arsic, executive director of „Centre E8“ and Masa Milutinovic from „The Youth Initiative for Human Rights“, participated in the panel. Irena Dubak, founder of the association „The House of Achievement“ was the moderator.
Zoran Milivojevic noted: „I am a ‘digital immigrant’. It is completely different when you grow up with social networks. Digital communication is essential for today’s generations. Technology is what separates the old from the young. Teenagers are digital natives and their parents are digital immigrants.“.
Sara Jovanovic, a participant of „The First Voice of Serbia“, Vukasin Brajic, a participant in „Operation Triumph“, Nikola Jovanovic, talent and music manager, MTV & VH1 Adria, Emilija Djonin, a participant in „Got Talent“, Kristina Kovac, a composer and a member of jury in „X Factor“ reality show and Petar Janjatovic, a music critic, and member of the jury in „Idol“ reality show participated in a panel dubbed „Five minutes of fame“, dedicated to music reality shows.
„None of us is looking for a singer nor a talent. In foreign reality shows, people like Simon Cowell are looking for talented singers who will later make them money. That is a difference between a domestic and foreign reality shows. The point is that, to succeed in this country, you can only rely on yourself, which applies to everything, and show business as well,“ Vukasin Brajic said.
Apart from the four panels, four presentations have also been held, dubbed „Is 10 The New 15? Traps and Puzzles of Accelerated Growing Up“, Vesna Brzev-Curcic, a psychologist; „School Without Violence“, UNICEF, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development/Unit for the Prevention of Violence and Telenor, Biljana Lajovic, coordinator of JPN/MPNTR and representatives of the „School Without Violence“ and campaign dubbed „Choose words, prevent hate“; „What Our Children Are Really Like“, a survey by SMMRI about the habits of the generation of „digital natives“, as well as „Music – Universal Channel of Communication“, Milica Milivojevic, expert for postpaid services for private customers at Telenor and Goran Stupar, a media specialist at Telenor.

At the Congress Centre of Novi Sad Fair, within the International Tourist Fair, a „Food & Wine Chat“ was held yesterday, organised by culinary editions of Color Press Group („Good Food“, „Send a recipe“ and „Cakes and Cookies“). Panel on combining food and wine is the extension of the very successsful project, dubbed „Food Talk“, the first regional food conference, which was held in June at „Salas 137“ near Cenej, and which included participants such as Oliver Mlakar, Stevo Karapandza and Djordje Balasevic.
The participants of „Food & Wine Chat“ were the renowned chefs, restaurant owners and top experts of wine culture in Serbia and in the world – Milos Jovanovic, chef of „Que Pasa“ in Belgrade, Savo Kesar, owner and founder of Mediteraneo wine festival of gastronomy and wine tourism, Aleksandar Samardzija, one of the co-owners of „Salas 137“ restaurant, Zdravko Brkic, president of „Cigar Society“ club and founder of the Association of professional sommeliers of Serbia, Ivan Zoric, technology expert for the development of new products from „Imlek“ company and Michael Kreiling, chef at Hyatt Regency in Belgrade. Panel visitors enjoyed wines from the rich selection of „Tikves“ winery, „Imlek“ cheeses, refreshments from Knjaz Milos and specialties prepared by participants in the panel. One of the conclusions of the panel discussion was that Serbia offers quality food and very good wines, but that people still do not know much about that offer.
Zdravko Brkic objects to domestic hotels and restaurants for not promoting Serbian wines enough. „Hotel Square Nine in Belgrade has a perfect cuisine and excellent service, but only four labels of Serbian wines, which is unacceptable!“
Michael Kreiling, chef at Hyatt Regency, says: „I think that food and wine should be in harmony; French think that food and wine are like marriage, and I think it’s more like flirt.“
Aleksandar Samardzija says that the most cheerful guests from the region are those from Slovenia and notices that younger generations spend more time being photographed with „tamburica“ bands and posting those photos on social networks than enjoying the music and atmosphere! He also says: „In Novi Sad, people do not go to restaurants for lunch as much as they do in Belgrade, because there is still the cult of family lunch here, while people in Belgrade prefer eating out!“
„Pro Femina 2013: Female health in focus“ round table, organised by „Health&Beauty“ magazine, took place today at Hyatt Regency Hotel. The topic of the round table was women’s health in Serbia. What can we do regarding prevention, what are the factors that are the most detrimental to women’s health, how much women are responsible for themselves, and to what extent are the community, their family, their company and wider social community responsible for her? Questions such as: what are the rights of women when they get ill and who is representing their rights, which laws are not working for us and what are the chances for them to change, were addressed by prof dr Dubravka Stojanovic, prof dr Dragana Bogdanovic-Stojanovic, radiology specialist, dr Milica Janicijevic, gynaecology and obstetrics specialist, dr Mirjana Tatarevic, psychiatry specialist, prof dr Dusko Ilic, fitness expert, ass. „Every day, 151 persons in Serbia die from heart failure, majority of which are women, contrary to the belief that heart diseases are typically ‘male’!“, dr Mila Zivojinovic, cardiologist.
„At the beginning of the 20th century, there were 752 women on 1,000 men, while in all other European countries, there are more women than men. In 1903, average life expectancy of Serbian women was 39, and 49 for men. Divorced women lived 35 years on average! In 1903, there were 113 deceased girls aged 15-26 on 76 boys! As many as 49% of children in the country died by the age of six!,” dr Dubravka Stojanovic, a historian and author of the book “Behind the Curtain”, reports the shocking data and adds that the main cause of mortality for women were multiple pregnancies and huge death rate during delivery.
“Out of 100,000 women who got a call for the screening for breast cancer, only 10,000 appeared!,” dr Danica Salaski, Republic Institute for Health Insurance
“Chiefs of cabinets, PRs… up to 40% of non-medical staff in our healthcare facilities, and great shortage of doctors, which is unacceptable!!!,” dr Branislava Belic
“Every ninth woman in Serbia gets breast cancer. If these trends continue, in 15 years, every other woman will get breast cancer! Self-inspection is not enough! How many of you dye your own hair? Give your health at least as much time as you give your hair,!” dr Dragana Bogdanovic
“Telenor is ranked among the top three desirable employers in Serbia. We go to Telenor’s “state health office”. Namely, during working hours, our employees always have doctors’ services at their disposal. Although over the previous years, summer months implied a drop in visits to Web portals belonging to CPG, this year this has not been the case! Rise in number of visits and loaded pages is present every month, and the reason lies in the Android application forsvet.rs (which enables easier reading when at the beach, abroad…) and new portals (bravacasa.rs and posaljirecept.rs), as well as in new content and sections at old portals.
According to statistics by Google Analytics:
Overall, all CPG portals: absolute record in number of visits – 8.3 million, as well as absolute record in number of loaded pages – 32.4 million!
– Svet Android application received 636.698 visits in July (130 thousand more than during the previous month) and 4.1 million loaded pages (1 million more than during the previous month)!
The portal bravo.rs reached a record-breaking number of 622 thousand visits, with an increase rate of as much as 33%, whereas svet.rs received a monthly record in number of visits – over 4.4 million and 18.7 million loaded pages, with an increase rate of 1.66%.
The portal scandal.rs registered a monthly record in number of visits amounting to over 1.7 million, and an increase rate of 5.57%, whereas lepotaizdravlje.rs received a record-breaking 693 thousand visits, hellomagazin.rs – record of 623 thousand visits, the portalbravacasa.rs –again an increase rate of 50% and 64 thousand visits.
“We believe that new sections at the portals, such as Chronicle and Sport at svet.rs will contribute to further increase in the number of visits, and taking into account that in near future we will introduce Android applications for bravo.rs and lepotaizdravlje.rs, we expect even greater increase!”, says Ivana Stanišić, director of Net Medija, the company which encompasses all CPG portals.

Since yesterday, at the portal svet.rs in a separate section you can read the news related to culture, from Serbia, the region and the entire world.
“In a year when the budget for culture in Serbia is less than 1%, when financing of important festivals is withdrawn, when cinematography has not received a single dinar from the budget, and most newspapers and portals cancel the section “Culture” – we decided to give at least a small contribution to informing the citizens of the most important themes from the field of culture!”, says Ivana Stanišić, Editor-in-Chief of the web portal svet.rs, adding: “We believe that it is much more useful for the news from the field of culture, which was in the past published within other sections, to be available to the readers of the portal, having over 4.000.000 visits per month, than in specialized magazines, with, unfortunately low circulation figures, read by people who regard culture as one of priorities. There is a quotation by Winston Churchill, who during the bombing of London in 1940 to the demand for lowering the budget for culture in favour of the army budget responded: “And what are we going to defend then!?”. We believe that alongside all those pieces of information from the life of domestic and foreign celebrities, interesting facts from the entire world and similar entertaining themes – our readers should have a daily dosage of news from the field of culture!”
Web portals belonging to the “Color Press Group” reached an absolute record of 7.8 million visits in June. Also registered was an absolute record in the number of loaded pages – 28.5 million. The portal svet.rs had a monthly record in visits, namely over 4.34 million, and an increase rate of 4%.

Hellomagazin.rs – was on a record level with 581 thousand visits.
Bravo.rs – a record-breaking 467 thousand visits.
The new portal bravacasa.rs doubled the number of visits to 46.000 visits.
Svet Android application had 503.224 visits during the month, and 3.1 million loaded pages!

Yesterday, at Salaš 137, Čenej, culinary magazines published by “Color Press Group” – “Dobra hrana” (“Good Food”), “Pošalji recept” (“Send a recipe”) and ”Torte i
kolači” (“Cakes and cookies”) organized the first regional food conference – “Food Talk 2013”.
Editor of CPG’s culinary magazines Ženja Aćimović first greeted all attendees, and presented the publications that she is working on, revealing the secret of their success.
Within the first panel “Eat, beg… hurts!”, the topic was food safety, which would mark the years ahead of us. The participants were Miodrag Dimitrijević, PhD (Faculty of Agriculture, Novi Sad), dr Dragan Ivanov (specialist of internal medicine, Novi Sad), dr Ana Gifing (Centre for Chrono Food, Belgrade), Tamara Penjić (“Carnex”, Vrbas), Nenad Katanić (Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, within the Serbian Government) and Nataša Bojanić (“Foodland”), whereas the panel moderator was Aleksandra Prusina from “Color Press Group”.
Dr Ana Gifing revealed that food must be adjusted to each person individually, because a food product that suits one person does not necessarily suit the other, and therefore the principle of balanced feeding provides best results. Dr Dragan Ivanov made a conclusion that modern people face illnesses and leave this world prematurely due to errors in food habits: “In Vojvodina, more people have died because of food and drinks, than of hunger and thirst”, he concluded.
On the second panel, entitled “Food feeds a network”, the participants were food bloggers – Dragana Pušica (Moje grne, Bor), Miroslava Bogdanovski (Minjina kuhinjica, Kraljevo), Jelena Smiljković (Lisazoid, Belgrade), Ivan Tokin (food writer, City Magazin, Playboy, Belgrade), Lamija Bulgurdžić (Jedi Tweet, Sarajevo), Boštjan Napotnik (“Mladina”, Ljubljana), and the panel moderator was Tatjana Vehovec (“Mooshema”, Novi Sad).
In addition to revealing what motifs prompted them to launch a blog, and how it looks to prepare everything throughout the process, almost all of them agreed that GMO food is not good, because it contains more water and carbohydrates, thus lacking nutritive and aromatic ingredients which make us enjoy the food.
“Gastroregion” was the third panel, gathering owners and main chefs of the best restaurants, from Alpes to Ohrid – Rade Litričin (SPK “Privrednik“, Klub književnika, Belgrade), Amer Sinanović (“Četiri sobe gospođe Safije“, Sarajevo), Vlastimir Puhalo (“Homa“, Belgrade),
Christian Misirača (“Tip Top”, Zagreb), Goran Jević (“Iguana“, Belgrade), whereas the moderator was Rene Bakalović from Zagreb.
Among other details, they profiled the type of restaurant that is the safest to open: “The safest option is to open a restaurant offering domestic food, hence ćevapi (meat loafs), ražnjići (skewers) and so on. However, it is not my personal style”, said Goran Jević, whilst Rade Litričin emphasized: “I would always open the same restaurant. Of course, I would serve also cooked brains, tripes, bowls, white kidneys, and have the customers coming over to taste them. And believe me, I would get a lot of praise!”
At the panel “Those that are whispered to someone…” Oliver Mlakar and Stevo Karapandža, hosts of the TV show “Little secrets of great chef masters”, during the seventies and the eighties, for one more time revealed their little secrets to all those that were present. To the moderator Aleksandar Filipović (RTV), Oliver and Stevo among other details, revealed that they had not seen each other for the past three years, whereas the TV legend confessed something unexpected: “As a matter of fact, I am not a big gourmand”.
When asked if they would again shoot a culinary TV show today, Oliver said he enjoyed being a retired person, and that he did not know if he would engage himself again in such a venture, whereas Stevo agreed with him, anticipating that he would withdraw from the business during the forthcoming year.
“Cooks were not popular in the past, but the situation nowadays is different. In the past, cooking profession was for those who could not attend any other school”, said Stevo Karapandža.
“I feel great here at Salaš 137, and if you organize a conference next year, I will come again”, Oliver concluded.
At the panel “Teach me”, authors of culinary best-sellers and TV shows Jovica Jovičić (Paklena kuhinja, Prva TV, Belgrade), Siniša Đokić (producer, Belgrade), Filip Ćirić (“Homa“, Il Primo culinary school, Belgrade), Valentina Smej Novak and Luka Novak (“Ljubezen gre skozi želodec, POP TV, Ljubljana), Vjekoslav Kramer (“Lonci i poklopci”, OBN, Sarajevo) and Velimir Dejanović (“Kuvati srcem“, Belgrade), and the moderator Nenad Gladić (“Gastronomad”), revealed the secrets of their success, i.e. how to make a successful TV show about cooking.
“Producing a TV show about cooking, except good presentation implies good food as well. If the final product is neglected, you have not done your job well”, said Siniša Đokić, whereas Jovica Jovičić revealed that the TV show “Pakleni kuvar” is realistic in presenting everything that is taking place: “The staff always wish to kick me out of the restaurant, and they are not aware that I am there because I want to help them”.
Duška Jovanić was the moderator of the panel “Gastro geography”, in which the participants were Vladimir Pištalo (writer, NIN award winner for the novel of the year, teaches world and American history at Becker College, Worcester, Massachusetts), Kapil Vig (main chef at the Indian restaurant “Real India”, Novi Sad), Goran Kovačević (main chef at the hotel “Square
Nine”, Belgrade), Milijan Stojanić (“Srpski narodni kuvar”, “Svetski diplomatski kuvar”) and Aleksandar Samardžija (owner of the Salaš 137).
Vladimir Pištalo made a conclusion that cooking is a form of art, and pointed out: “When speaking of global gastronomy, it all depends on the point of view. For example, we regard an apple as regular, and mango as exotic fruit. In some other country, the situation would be reverse.”
Kapil Vig revealed: “I had always thought that I did not possess any talent, and then, quite accidentally, I became a chef. I realized that it was what I wanted to do in life!”
Goran Kovačević said that his best, and favourite, was the dinner that he made for the celebration of the 50-year jubilee of Queen Elizabeth, while working at “Claridge’s”.
On the subject of “Food in ethics and poetics of the plain” spoke singer and songwriter Đorđe Balašević.
“My Grandmother, who was the best cook, had two dishes – a small pot with dots, and blue damaged casserole. She prepared all the food using those two dishes, and she never knew the measures, so therefore, if we had taken the small pot with dots and the blue casserole away from her, she would not have known even how to cook eggs”, Đole said.
“I was of such luck to find for myself one lovely cook. I have to praise her in front of everybody. By her side, I learnt that there were spices, and I got used to some new tastes. However, it was in vain, because now I have to watch my weight”, Balašević said, adding that what he loved the most was when his wife Olja prepared regal crumbs.
During the last panel “La Traviata: How to make a good wine”, whose participants were the representatives of the best wine cellars from the region: Vesna Klikovac-Katanić, MSc (Plantaže 13. jul, Montenegro), Aleksandar Kokir (Tikveš, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), Jovito Vranković (Zlatan otok, Hvar, Croatia), Radovan Vukoje (Podrum Vukoje, Trebinje, Bosnia-Herzegovina), Sava Jojić (Mačkov podrum, Serbia), Samo Simonič (Dveri-Pax, Ljubljana) and Ljubica Radan (Association of sommeliers, vintners and wine-dressers, Novi Sad), and the moderator Danijela Radeč (President of the National Association of sommeliers of Montenegro), all the conference attendees tasted the wine produced in these wineries.
At the end of the conference “Food Talk”, the names of prize winners were drawn – “Jolly Kop” granted two weekend stays at Kopaonik, and “Cruise & Ferry” granted a cruising trip.
After the official part of the conference, which was ended by a speech delivered by an executive editor of the “Dobra hrana” magazine – Dobrila Strajnić Rajkov, and an invitation to meet again at the same place next year, the dinner was served, with music performance by tambourines.

Grand regional conference Pro-Femine 2013, organized by the “Lepota i zdravlje” magazine, was held on April, 4th in Belgrade’s hotel “Hyatt Regency”. The conference, whose objective was to point to a woman’s role in modern society and problems women are dealing with, these being, evidently, similar throughout the entire region, was opened by Editor-in-Chief of the “Lepota i zdravlje” magazine Lidija Ćulibrk.
Biljana Srbljanović: “I am not ashamed of my right to take care of how I look, I do not view it as additional concern of humiliation for a woman”
The conference gathered over 150 professional women from the field of media, marketing, PR, communications, art, as well as university professors, students, and representatives of the most influential companies and media agencies from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Among the participants, there were women known to wider audience, but also those whose jobs are not connected to the public scene. Over fifty accredited journalists followed the conference. The audience was addressed by Biljana Srbljanović, Danica Vučenić, Suzana Trninić, Vedrana Rudan, Biljana Cincarević, Vesna Dedić, Olivera Balašević, Aja Jung, and many other women, each successful in her field.
Vedrana Rudan: “Love yourself, then others will love you as well”
The conference was available through a live stream, and therefore the Twitter users were in a position to take active part. Over 1.200 tweets were sent, thus breaking the Twitter conference record. It is also a proof that the issues started at the conference – from multitasking, via position of women in media and on the literary scene, via health and partition, to abuse and LGBT issues – call for media dialogue and more media attention.
Among the huge number of partners and patrons of the conference, there were also: Danube Food Group, Hyatt Regency, Coca-Cola Zero, Bakaluk, Mercator, Vichy, Laguna, Multiactiv, Cruise & Ferry, Policlinic Nada Diva, Darphin, Baileys and Campari.
The plan is to hold Pro-Femine 2014 in April next year, with new subjects dedicated to women, and hopefully, with equally good energy, enthusiasm, and interchange of useful information, which were the landmarks of this year’s conference.

This year’s awardees of PRO.PR Awards from Serbia are Miša Lukić (Publicis Group Srbija/MMS Communications) and Borislav Miljanović (Represent System). Among fifteen awardees there is also Alex Aiken, general director of the communication department in the Government of Great Britain.
“This award is based on an idea to remember the individuals who, in the shadow of various projects, events, companies or institutions, practically manage the communications on a daily basis; on the other hand, generously in their own way, they contribute to the development of the public relations sector”, said the president of the Organizational Board of the PRO.PR conference Danijel Koletić, who is, at the same time, the founder of this international award.

Also presented will be the book by a historian Dubravka Stojanović “Iza zavese” (“Behind the curtain”), which unveils deep roots of countless problems which women from this region face today. During the conference, women with disability, LGBT women and women who belong to ethnical minorities and other women who are faced with discrimination, will also take part.
